I am tired of seeing advertisements for TV's on TV. Hearing them gush about the great color and superb picture quality is a waste of time. After all, if I have a lousy TV, I can't see this wonderful picture they're banging on about, so why should I bother listening? On the other hand, if I actually can see the superb color and picture, then I already have a TV that is at least as good as the one they're trying to get me to buy, so why should I bother listening?

Mad Magazine provided this little nugget of wisdom about 30 years ago, and it still makes sense today.
